Long Term Care
BENEFEDS administers the premium payment processes on behalf of the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP). The FLTCIP provides long term care insurance to help pay for costs of care when enrollees need help with activities they perform every day, or they have a severe cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer's disease.
Once enrolled in the FLTCIP, you will be able to view some of your enrollment information from your My BENEFEDS dashboard, as well as access your FLTCIP premium history. You will need to create a BENEFEDS account to view this information if you haven't already.
To learn more about the FLTCIP program, including the application process, visit www.ltcfeds.com.
FLTCIP information on My BENEFEDS
If you are enrolled in the FLTCIP, you can view your monthly premium amount and coverage effective date on your My BENEFEDS dashboard. You can also view your payment history (if enrolled) and pay your direct bill online (if applicable).
If you are not currently enrolled in the FLTCIP, you will see your status as "Not Enrolled".
You can request changes to your coverage at any time by calling FLTCIP customer service at 1-800-LTC-FEDS (1-800-582-3337) TTY 1-800-843-3557. To update your personal or contact information such as address, email or phone number, you'll need to log into both of your BENEFEDS and My LTCFEDS accounts—each entity administers different aspects of the FLTCIP.

Premiums and payment methods
The FLTCIP offers three options for paying premiums: payroll or annuity/pension deduction, automatic bank withdrawal (ABW) and direct bill. If you have a question regarding your premium payments, call BENEFEDS customer service at 1-877-888-FEDS (1-877-888-3337) TTY 1-877-889-5680.
Payroll or annuity/pension deduction
Premiums are automatically deducted from your pay or annuity/pension. Most employees, retirees and active and retired members of the uniformed services choose this method of payment.
Automatic bank withdrawal (ABW)
Premiums are automatically withdrawn from your savings or checking account. The withdrawal is reflected in your bank account between the third and fifth business day of every month.
You will receive a bill at your designated mailing address during the month before your premium is due. You can pay more than one month's premium at any time. Some enrollees decide to pay their premiums on a semi-annual or annual basis.
You can pay your direct bill online from your My BENEFEDS dashboard or by mailing a check and the remittance portion of your bill with your account number to:
Long Term Care Partners, LLC
P.O. Box 981079
Boston, MA 02298-1079
The option to make a one-time payment online is only available to users who pay their premiums through direct bill. The one-time payment option will only appear on your My BENEFEDS dashboard when you have a balance due.
If you are a new enrollee or change to direct bill from another billing method, you will not be able to make a payment online until after the effective date of your billing change.
To pay your direct bill online, log into your My BENEFEDS account and select "Make One-Time Payment" on your dashboard.
More about premiumds and payment methods
To view your payment history for your FLTCIP enrollment, log into your My BENEFEDS account and select "View Payment History" on your dashboard. You can view your payment history for the current plan year as well as the previous plan year, as long as you were actively enrolled in the FLTCIP in those years.
The payment history displayed will always be as of the day before the current date, so be aware that you may not see a payment you were expecting to see right away.
You will have access to your post-tax premiums for the current and prior year from your FLTCIP payment history page. To view your FLTCIP tax information, select the "Tax Info" link just above the payment history table. If there are multiple years of tax information available, you will need to select the year in the drop-down menu to get the correct year's information.
You can print or download a copy of this information for tax filing purposes.
Transition to retirement
If you currently pay your premiums through payroll deduction and retire, in most cases, you don't need to do anything to begin paying your FLTCIP premiums through your annuity. Once we receive notification from your payroll office of your retirement, we will work with your annuity system to set up premium deductions from your annuity. However, there are some cases when we are not notified. If you have not seen a deduction after two full pay periods, call us at the phone number below.
If you are retiring under CSRS or FERS, premiums for the FLTCIP can't be deducted from your annuity while you're receiving interim payments (sometimes called "special pay"). This means that until OPM finalizes your annuity, we can't take deductions from your annuity to pay your premiums. While you're receiving interim payments, you may pay your premiums either by automatic bank withdrawal (ABW) or by direct bill. Once your annuity is finalized, we will begin deductions from your annuity.
For questions regarding your payroll or annuity deductions, call BENEFEDS customer service at 1-877-888-FEDS (1-877-888-3337) TTY 1-877-889-5680.
